Shuttering Plywood — common questions
Is your shuttering plywood BWP or BWR grade?
We supply both, and both are film-faced and manufactured to IS 4990. BWP is boiling-water-proof and gives 15 to 20 pours. BWR is boiling-water-resistant, costs less, and gives 8 to 10. Tell us your pour count and we will recommend the grade.
How many times can shuttering ply be reused?
With proper de-shuttering and edge sealing, BWP gives 15 to 20 pours and BWR gives 8 to 10. Unsealed cut edges are the most common reason a sheet falls short of that.
What sizes and thicknesses do you supply?
Sheets are 8×4 ft in 12 mm and 18 mm. If your specification calls for something outside that, tell us at enquiry stage and we will confirm in writing what we can supply before you place the order.
What film weight should I specify — 120, 180 or 220 GSM?
120 GSM suits shorter cycles and lighter handling. 180 GSM is the general-purpose choice for repeated structural pours. 220 GSM is for heavy mechanical de-shuttering, high pour counts or abrasive conditions.
How should shuttering plywood be stored on site?
Flat, off the ground on bearers at close centres, under cover and out of direct sun. Sheets stood on edge or stacked on uneven ground take a permanent bow that shows in the concrete face.
Do you supply test certificates?
Mill test certificates and our ISO 9001:2015 despatch documentation accompany the consignment. Third-party testing can be arranged on request.
